Housekeeper/Campus Manager | Pembroke, Maine

| Pembroke, ME, United States

Posted Date 4/22/2026
Description
Seeking a wonderful and proactive housekeeper and campus facilities manager for a diverse organic farm with summer hospitality and education programs in scenic, coastal, charming, but super rural Maine. The family operate a dynamic saltwater farm and so candidates MUST be comfortable around farm animals, pets and agricultural activities, while living in a very small town with limited commercial entertainments. Having said that, there is a real community feel to the set-up and the farm is a thriving business with a farm shop, food prep enterprise, and rental and hospitality cottages. There are many visitors in the summer, an artist in residency program, educational workshops and events, festivals etc. The area boasts beautiful hiking trails, kayaking on rivers, small historic towns, fresh fish-- for the right person, who loves a blend of social excitment, caretaking, co-creation, and some quiet off-time in the outdoors-- this could be a great fit.

Expect a usual schedule of Monday through Friday, 8am-6pm, although flexibility around this would be appreciated as there may be weekend help needed at times (days off in lieu provided), and things will likely change when the family travel (usually October-March).

Responsibilities:
  • Making sure the family household is well kept and maintained
  • Providing oversight for campus set-up and preparedness for seasonal guests
  • Executive oversight of the various rental households: getting them ready for the season would be your responsibility
  • Light decorating, managing linens, hanging paintings, re-arranging furniture, re-setting spaces that have been dismantled for winter paint jobs etc
  • Cleaning, oversight of the part-time cleaners, stocking home with foods, setting up and overseeing systems
  • Regular and deep cleaning of the 4-bedroom home (to include vacuuming, dusting, mopping etc)
  • General management of the household, ensuring that things run smoothly
  • Family laundry and ironing
  • Home organisation and tidying
  • Keeping on top of the kitchen emptying the dishwasher, keeping an eye on inventory etc
  • Some childcare for two active children (aged 3-yrs and 1.5-yrs) who love being outdoors
  • Helping prepare a light lunch for the children
  • Tag-teaming with Mom and the nanny to ensure seamless care for children
  • Occasional petcare (dogs, cats and rabbits!)
  • There is potential scope to expand parts of the hospitality business, however running the home and keeping it clean and organised is the priority

The family need to find someone very comfortable with living in the countryside. Candidates should also be:

  • Discreet and respectful, able to maintain professional boundaries
  • Flexible, open to international travel and moving between homes
  • Confident drivers with a clean license, able to run errands and do shopping
  • Happy to take on all aspects of managing the home
  • Confident swimmers
  • Friendly, positive and responsible
  • Great at reading the room, and at remaining a few steps ahead
  • Fluent in English
  • Additional languages such as Italian, German and/or French would be helpful
  • Fit and active, able to keep up with young children
  • Team-player, able to work effectively alongside Mom
  • Comfortable with simple meal prep
  • Bright and switched-on, able to slot into a busy environment with lots going on, and take responsibility in a number of different areas
  • Flexible and adaptable, winters either off, or part time on " special projects" or travelling with family

Salary & Benefits:

  • $40/hr
  • Health benefits provided after successful completion of a 3 month probationary period
  • Car for both professional and private use
  • Accommodation provided at all locations, either separate to the main house (Maine) or within the home (California)
